Last year, I completed the Teaching Students With Learning Disabilities AQ course. I really enjoyed it because my passion and primary interest is in the field of Special Education – Behavioural Exceptionalities, and I was feeling a bit under-developed in my knowledge and understanding of students with more academic struggles, such as Learning Disabilities. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I really understood how to properly define LD! However, I thoroughly enjoyed the course, and gained some really valuable insights into how to best respond to students struggling with academic work.
For my final assignment, I decided to explore LD in the context of the ELL learner, since oftentimes exceptionalities can be challenging to identify when there is a language barrier. I was overwhelmed with excellent research papers and helpful resources, so I ended up writing my own mini-eLearning course as a potential resource for others to use.
